Guess the Sound is a free browser game that puts your listening skills to the test. Each round you hear a short audio clip and have to work out what made the sound. Pick a game mode, choose a category, and see how many of the ten rounds you can get right.
🐣 Easy — 10 rounds, 4 choices, and the clip plays twice. The friendliest way to learn the ropes.
🎮 Normal — 10 rounds, 4 choices, clip plays once. The classic way to play.
⌨️ Hard — 10 rounds, but instead of multiple choice you type the answer. Suggestions appear as you type, and the game accepts close spellings thanks to fuzzy matching.
🔥 Extreme — 10 rounds, 4 choices, but every clip is sped up to 1.4x. Only the sharpest ears finish with a perfect score.
Say your round draws from the Animals category. The clip plays a short, rhythmic bark-bark. You hear the four options: dog, cat, chicken and cow. Because the bark is unmistakably a dog, you pick dog, score a point, and your streak climbs to one. In Hard mode the same clip expects you to type dog — and the fuzzy matcher even accepts doggy or dogg.
Real examples you will hear: a kettle clicking and rumbling in Kitchen, a car horn in Traffic, rain against a window in Weather, and a keyboard clattering in Office.
Is Guess the Sound free? Yes — the game is completely free and runs in your browser. It is supported by Google AdSense advertising.
Do I need an account? No. There are no accounts and no sign-up. Your score is only shown to you and anyone you share it with.
Can I play on my phone? Yes. The game is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, laptops and desktops.
How is my score calculated? You score one point per correct answer out of ten rounds. The results screen shows correct, wrong, best streak and best category.
What does "did you mean" mean in Hard mode? The fuzzy matcher accepted a close spelling of the real answer. It still counts as correct — the game simply tells you the exact name.
How do I report a wrong or missing sound? Every round has a report link that opens a pre-addressed email to aren2connect@gmail.com.
